Firestorm ‘77 The True Story of the Honda Canyon Fire
FireStorm ’77 contributes a new facet to existing fire event scholarship by not only examining the conditions and circumstances that led to a mass wildfire event, but also through in-depth interviews with the participants. Students and faculty in fire science, history, management, and related fire courses and programs will benefit from a case study comprised of first-person perspectives that take the viewer chronologically through the spread of a large, wind-driven wildfire, affording them the opportunity to assess and observe missteps and successes that occurred along the way. Additionally, the lingering psychological effects of casualty based fire incidents are explored, as well as the consideration of climate enhanced fire incidents.
The 54 minute documentary and extras provide opportunities for engaging and meaningful classroom curricular activities and discussions.
